Activate on site
Once you arrive at your destination, turn on the eSIM and start using it.
-
Settings > Mobile Data, then select the eSIM
Only if you’re using a Japan plan or an Asia roaming plan on an iPhone within Japan, you need to manually set the APN to “vmobile.jp”.
*On Android, you may need to enter it manually in some cases, but it’s usually not necessary.
If you can’t connect to the internet after arriving in Japan, follow these steps:
• Open the iPhone Settings app.
• Tap “Mobile Data”.
• Tap the activated eSIM, then tap “Mobile Data Network”.
• Under “Mobile Data” and “Personal Hotspot”, delete what’s currently in the “APN” field and enter vmobile.jp. Once you’re done, proceed to the next step. -
Turn on Data Roaming (❗very important❗)
-
Automatically connects to the network *Please note that once you turn on international roaming and data usage begins, cancellations and refunds will no longer be available.
What is a Quick Install link?
A Quick Install link is a convenient feature that lets you install an eSIM by simply tapping a link—no need to scan a QR code. It’s available on iOS 17.4+ and Android 10+. It makes eSIM setup even easier.
Which should I use: the Quick Install link or the QR code?
If you are using iOS (iPhone) with iOS 17.4 or later, or Android 10 or above, we recommend using the quick install link. Simply tap the link and the eSIM will be installed automatically, making it easier and more reliable.
Can I use tethering?
Yes, tethering is available on all plans. You can share your internet connection with multiple devices.
Can I use 5G?
Yes, you can use 5G communication in supported areas. However, your smartphone must be 5G compatible.
What is FUP?
FUP stands for Fair Use Policy, which refers to the data speed limit after you have used up the daily allotted high-speed data allowance.
What speeds can I expect after throttling?
After throttling, the maximum speed is 128 kbps. You can still send and receive emails and messages, but things like video streaming will be difficult.
Can I use it in multiple countries?
Global plans and regional (multi-country) plans can be used in multiple countries. The network switches automatically when you cross borders.
Do I get a phone number?
No. This is a data-only eSIM. If you need voice calling, please use apps like LINE or WhatsApp.
