Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

We’ve put together answers to the questions we get most often.

What is an eSIM?

An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM built into your smartphone. You can use mobile service by simply scanning a QR code—no need to swap a physical SIM card.

Which countries can I use it in?

Xiao Long eSIM is available in 130+ countries and regions worldwide. Our Global Plan covers 120–130+ countries/regions. We also offer regional plans (Asia, Europe, Middle East, etc.) that work across multiple countries/regions. For details, please check the shop page.

What payment methods are available?

We support multiple payment methods, including the world’s largest payment service, PayPal (credit card/debit card), as well as Apple Pay and Google Pay. All of these are widely recognized worldwide as safe and convenient payment options.

After purchase, when can I start using the eSIM?

Within 15 minutes of purchase, we’ll email you your eSIM profile (setup link/QR code). Activate the eSIM after you arrive at your destination to start using it right away.

Can I cancel or get a refund?

You can cancel only if the eSIM hasn’t been activated: within 14 days of purchase and unused (the eSIM profile has not been installed and activated). Please note that cancellations and refunds are not available after activation.

How do I set up the eSIM?

1) Purchase a plan and receive the link to your eSIM profile (setup link/QR code, etc.). 2) Open the link, tap the setup link, or scan the QR code with your phone’s camera, then follow the prompts to add the eSIM. 3) At your destination, activate the eSIM and turn on roaming to start using it. For details, see the User Guide.

What is the Apple/Google one-click install link (universal link)?

It’s a new eSIM installation method available on iOS (iPhone) 17.4 and Android 10 or later. Instead of scanning a QR code, you can automatically install the eSIM by simply tapping the link in the email. It’s easier and more reliable.

Can I use tethering (hotspot)?

Yes, tethering is available on all plans. You can share your internet connection with multiple devices.

Can I use multiple eSIMs at the same time?

Depending on your phone model, you can install multiple eSIMs and switch between them. The number of eSIMs that can be active at the same time varies by device model and the country/region it was sold in, so please check your device specifications on the official website.

Can I use 5G?

Yes, 5G is available in supported areas. Your smartphone must support 5G.

Will I get a phone number?

Our service primarily provides data-only eSIMs. If you need to make voice calls, please use internet calling apps such as LINE or WhatsApp.

Do I need a VPN to access Google, etc. on the China Mainland plan?

With the China Mainland plan, no VPN is needed—you can use services like Google and LINE as usual. In other regions, you can typically use the service without a VPN as well.

What is the Daily Unlimited Plan?

This is an unlimited plan that can be purchased on a daily basis. You can purchase as many days as you need. Even after using up the specified daily data allowance, you can continue using unlimited data at 128kb–512kb (roughly equivalent to or slightly faster than old 2G speeds). This speed is sufficient for text messaging on social media and light web browsing. Your data allowance resets 24 hours after activation (actual usage start). Please note that for the 10GB plan, data may be added incrementally depending on the country or region.

What does “FUP 〇Mbps” mean?

FUP stands for Fair Usage Policy. You can use data at full speed up to a specified amount. Once that limit is reached, you can continue using data at the speed indicated by the number in Mbps (which is faster than the 2G speeds seen after the standard slowdown on daily plans). Please be aware that the stated speed is the theoretical maximum; actual speeds may vary depending on your usage environment, such as signal strength.

What is the Premium plan?

This plan gives you access to a premium network, offering better signal strength and faster data speeds compared to standard plans (at a slightly higher price). However, please keep an eye on your data usage limits.

What is nonhkip?

nonhkip stands for “Non Hong Kong IP.” Our eSIMs basically use Hong Kong as the exit, but Hong Kong has multiple geographic restrictions on internet traffic. In particular, when you use a Hong Kong-exit eSIM (including physical SIMs), access to video apps like TikTok, social media apps like Facebook, AI services like ChatGPT, and other applications may be blocked. So if you want to avoid these geographic restrictions, we recommend choosing a plan labeled nonhkip. However, nonhkip plans are usually slightly more expensive than the standard Hong Kong-exit version, so please decide whether the price difference is worth paying to avoid those restrictions. Also, the Android version of TikTok checks the SIM/eSIM region in addition to the IP address. Since our eSIM is from China Mobile Hong Kong, you can’t use TikTok. If your device has an eSIM or physical SIM from a region other than mainland China or Hong Kong, you can access TikTok without issues (note: TikTok Web works, but to use the app, an active physical SIM card (non-Hong Kong/non-China) must be enabled on the user’s phone).

What is USIP?

USIP allows you to use a US-based IP address. Our eSIMs typically use Hong Kong as an exit point, but Hong Kong has several geographical restrictions on internet traffic. Specifically, using an eSIM (including physical SIMs) with a Hong Kong exit may block access to video platforms like TikTok, social media like Facebook, AI services like ChatGPT, and other applications. If you want to bypass these restrictions, we recommend using a USIP plan. Since USIP plans are generally more expensive than the standard Hong Kong versions, it’s up to you to decide if bypassing these restrictions is worth the extra cost. Note that the Android version of TikTok detects the SIM/eSIM region in addition to the IP address. Because our eSIM is from China Mobile Hong Kong, TikTok cannot be used. If your device has an eSIM or physical SIM from a region other than Mainland China or Hong Kong inserted, you can access TikTok without issues (Note: The web version of TikTok works, but to use the app, a valid physical SIM card from outside Hong Kong/China must be active on the device).

What is IIJ?

IIJ is one of Japan’s most famous internet and network providers. Variations labeled as IIJ allow you to communicate using the IIJ network and provide you with an IIJ IP address.

How can I check my remaining data?

You can check mobile data usage in your phone’s settings. You can also view your usage from the notes in your account page on our site, or via the setup link in the email > Check Usage.
